MANDELA DAY

The overarching objective of Mandela Day is to inspire individuals to take action to help change the world for the better, and in doing so build a global movement for good. Ultimately it seeks to empower communities everywhere. “Take Action; Inspire Change; Make Every Day a Mandela Day.”

STATE STREET
is a company who knows and accepts its corporate responsibility. This is the second year that we are working with State Street. Last year they donated toys for a back-to-school party that the FIG helped with. Nilfa Suleman from State Street contacted us asking who in our Network was in need. We decided we would visit the Woodstock Day hospital. Among others, 450 elderly people cared for in NGO homes are dependent on the Woodstock day hospital. The elderly community in the Western Cape are so often overlooked by donors. Most of them have been neglected by their children and this is an issue that is close to the FIG network's heart.

We decided that, together with State Street we wanted to spend Mandela Day spreading some cheer with the people who laid the foundation of the society we live in.
