To whom can Zakaat be given:
Zakah is primarily for the poor and needy Muslims. "Poor" means those who have nothing and "needy" means those with insufficient means.Zakah should be given in cash when received in cash. If the person(s) or instances require certain items which they should stipulate, then such can be bought with zakah. Zakah is for Muslims only.
To whom can Sadaqah be given :
Sadaqah is for anyone. However, if for Non muslims also, such Non muslims must not be hostile to Islam and the Muslims nor engage in anti-Muslim activities.
Lillah:
Lillah donations fall under sadaqah and takes its rules.
Fitra: R26.00 (twenty six rand)
Fidyah: R13.00 (thirteen rand)
Fidyah is for the poor or needy Muslim.
Fitrah is also for the needy Muslim but it must be distributed within its time frame as it has relation to Ramadan.
Some fuqaha' allowed distribution of fitrah any time during Ramadan while the majority of them restrict it to 2 or 1 night before `Id al-Fitr. In any event, the Muslim recipient must receive it before the `Id al-Fitr salah starts.
Care should be taken with identification of the recipients.
